At the moment of making the purchase of your domain this must have a DNS zone in which you can add the DNS registries that must be added according to what the providers of mails or hosting indicate, so that the mails that you have work you must add a few registries in the DNS zone of the domain so that the mails work under that domain.
Usually the DNS records that must be added so that the emails work are MX, TXT and CNAME records, these DNS records must always be provided by the provider with whom you have contracted your service.
When you purchase a product with ClickPanda, it is likely that you will have to add or change the DNS configuration of your domain. Below you will find the basic concepts and how you can use them with ClickPanda.
DNS Records
- DNS: This stands for Domain Name System. The system was created in order to translate IP addresses in a way that is easier to understand. For example, it translates www.clickpanda.com.co in the IP address: "212.227.159.94", which is the address of the computer that hosts the ClickPanda website. When you use the Click Panda hosting services you must change the DNS records of your domain so that it points to ClickPanda's servers, where your site will be located. Check below how to change the records of your domain by clicking on HERE.
- MX Registration: It stands for "Mail Exchange" and allows the sending of e-mail from a domain to the servers that host the e-mail accounts of a domain.
- SOA registration: Provides information about the primary DNS of a server.
- AAAA registration: It is an IPv6 that points to IPv6 type servers.
- SRV Registration: Used to set up chats within e-mails
- SPF registration: Defines which servers are authorized to send emails with our domain.
- PTR record: This record is handled in a reverse way, i.e. the name or DNS normally responds to an IP in this case as it is in reverse the IP responds to a name or DNS (It is always configured in the email provider, it is not configured in the DNS zone).
- TXT RegistrationTextual Information: Corresponds to "Textual Information", and allows you to offer information to external sources of your domain, for different purposes.
- CNAME record: Refers to "canonical name", which has the purpose of linking a domain alias to a real (canonical) domain name. For example mail.yourdomainname.com.co CNAME www.elnombredesudominio.com.co.
- Registration A: A type A record links a domain name to an IP address of a server where the domain services are hosted. For example: domainname.com.co points to IP xx.xxx.xxxx through an A record, this IP is known as IPv4.
- NS Registration: "Name Server", for its acronym in English. These records determine the servers that will communicate the DNS information of a domain.
- TTL: "Time to leave" is a DNS record value that determines the time that must elapse before changes made to the DNS zone are applied and by default it is suggested that you never change it to the default value you find on ClickPanda's servers or any other provider's servers.
